Elinor Freedman
Elinor Freedman is an artist who relocated from north of Boston to East Dennis where she is inspired by the beauty of the landscape and creative energy of fellow artists. Recent retirement from a long career as a school administrator and teacher has enabled her to devote dedicated time to creative pursuits.
While Ellie has explored a variety of mediums, she is drawn to the vibrancy and immediacy of working with pastels, to which she has focused her current work. A lifelong learner, Ellie previously studied watercolor, drawing, and pastel in the Boston area and has recently concentrated on pastel painting at the Cape Cod Art Association, Cotuit Center for the Arts, and the excellent pastel workshops sponsored by the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod.
She is excited to have the opportunity to exhibit her work in juried exhibits on Cape Cod and in the Boston area. Her work has been displayed in the Shop at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, the Artists’ Paintbox Gallery in South Yarmouth, Eastwind Gallery in Orleans, and seasonally on the village green in Dennis Village with the Monday Painters.
Ellie is a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Association as well as a member of the Yarmouth Art Guild, Arts Collaborative of Wakefield, and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod for which she serves as a board member and coordinates a scholarship program for high school students who aspire to a career in the arts. Ellie serves as a docent and co-facilitator of docent training at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. In 2015 she collaborated with a team of docents to curate an exhibit. The Figure-Changes in Vision explored varied interpretation of the human form by noted Cape Cod artists who are included in the museum’s permanent collection.
