Kat Sylvester
Kat Sylvester has been an artist since she was a child. Her Mother and paternal Grandmother supported and encouraged her to pursue Art as a vocation. She loves the beach and lives on Cape Cod. “I find the Cape enchanting, magical, and colorful and live here with my 3 beloved dogs and my husband James.”
Kat is a former commercial illustrator and graphic designer now exclusively focused on making Fine Art. Much of her work stems from her illustration background. "I am not so much a photo-realistic painter. My work encompasses many of the elements and colors of my design background." Much of her work contains a spiritual and emotional exuberance celebrating the joy and wonder of life and everything about it.
A teacher at some of the finest Art Programs on the Cape, Kat has instructed various art disciplines at institutions such as the Dennis-Yarmouth Adult Education Program, the Falmouth Artist Guild, the Sandwich Community School and Nauset Community Education Program. An award winning artist, she enjoys participating in numerous exhibitions and art shows Cape-wide, and her work is represented at Eastwind Gallery in Orleans and The Sandwich Arts Alliance.
Kat is a member of The Yarmouth Art Guild, Cape Cod Cultural Center, Sandwich Arts Alliance, and a juried member of Cape Cod Art Center. She is a life-long learner and enjoys taking classes with her fellow creators.
Not your average Cape Cod landscape painter, Kat works in many and varied mediums. Be it gorgeous watercolor florals or sculptures, she creates works in acrylics, pastels, mixed mediums and oils as well. "I have to admit, I definitely paint like a woman. My colors range from soft to ultra-bright and my subjects can be bold and meaningful statements - always an expression of myself and my own point of view." Her favorite color is blue.
