Joan Shostak came to Cape Cod in 1983 after a long and wonderful career focused on developing early
childhood development programs and spaces. She has been the Chairwoman of the Educational
Foundation for Dennis and Yarmouth since 1996, assuming leadership after the loss of her husband who
established the organization in 1991.
Joan is a Juried Artist Member of the Cape Cod Art Center, and a member of the Cultural Center of Cape
Cod. As a Board Member of the Yarmouth Art Guild (YAG) she is known for her well-established
community liaisons and ability to raise funds for the Educational Foundation as well as for YAG.
Joan’s art includes various media but she is especially well-known for her watercolors and collages. Her
House Portraits reside in many homes on Cape and beyond.
