Jan Darcy’s family dates back to the Mayflower with roots in Barnstable Village and West Barnstable. Unfortunately, she did not get to grow up on Cape Cod but coming from DC every summer to visit grandparents for a week or two, she spent hours exploring nooks and crannies in the village, “working” with her grandfather, the village blacksmith, and hearing stories of the shenanigans of ancestors, including her great grandfather, a lighthouse keeper on Martha’s Vineyard.
Now that Jan lives here, she continues to explore the Cape. She started painting in 2017 and has a long list of locations and images she wants to capture on canvas!
Jan is a juried member of Monday Painters on the Dennis Green and of Cape Cod Art Center. She is a member of the Yarmouth Art Guild and joins the Cape Cod Art Center's Plein Air group in good weather. In 2020 she joined the Eastwind Gallery cooperative. Her piece, Walking the Flats, was juried into the Cape Cod Museum’s Member Show in 2019. She has participated in Plein Air events in Chatham (Chatham Sparkles 2019) and in Barnstable (Barnstorming 2019). In 2020 she joined the Eastwind Gallery cooperative. Her miniatures can be found at the Spotted Cod in Sandwich, Elburnes of Dennis, and Nautique in Brewster.
